Jasper Philipsen goes into ‘pedestrian mode’ to laugh at the pace of tourists in the peloton

Early season races aren’t always the most intense of the year. The UAE Tour riders took advantage of this in the last kilometers of the stage. After rolling to catch the breakaways and avoiding the pitfalls of the curbs, the peloton granted themselves a moment of respite before tackling the final sprint. Leader of the general following his success in the 1st stage, Jasper Philipsen took the opportunity to amuse his teammates.

The sprinter from the Alpecin – Fenix team allowed himself to get off his bike and run alongside his teammates for a few meters before getting back on his machine (1:07 in the video below). A scene that we are not used to seeing but which made his friends laugh.

The Belgian rider then remobilized to face the final sprint whose he took second place behind Mark Cavendish.
