VICE President Kamala Harris on Thursday reiterated her “unwavering” support for Israel and told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu it was time to finalize a ceasefire “deal.”
On that occasion, Harris added that he “will not be silent” about the suffering in Gaza.
His remarks provided the clearest explanation to date of his views on the conflict as he warned Netanyahu’s government that how the war is waged is important.
“There has been encouraging progress in the talks to secure this deal. And as I just said to Prime Minister Netanyahu, it is time to get this deal done. So to all those who have called for a ceasefire, and to all those who long for peace, I see you and I hear you,” Harris told reporters after the meeting.
Given the details of the proposed US-backed deal, Harris said “it is time for this war to end and end in a way where Israel is safe, all hostages are freed, the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza ends, and the Palestinian people can exercise their right to freedom, dignity and self-determination.” (CNN/Z-3)
