Karin Slowing Umaña is appointed as the president’s representative to INFOM

The government also appoints Karin Slowing’s replacement to the Presidential Commission for Municipal Affairs.

In a press release, the Presidential Commission of Municipal Affairs reported that President Bernardo Arévalo de León appointed Karin Slowing Umaña as his representative before the Board of Directors of the National Development Institute. Municipal (INFOM).

It is mentioned that this designation is with the objective of strengthening their capacities and work in municipal development and that the purpose of the decision is to promote effective and transparent management for the benefit of the municipalities.

“President Arévalo de León has been emphatic about the importance of revitalizing the role of INFOM as a fundamental actor in the promotion of municipal development, which implies providing technical, administrative and financial assistance to contribute to the progress of the municipalities and regain the trust of the mayors in the institution,” the statement reads.

It is added that the position left by Slowing Umaña in the Presidential Commission of Municipal Affairs (COPRESAM) will be assumed by the current deputy executive director Alida Adelina Arana Vicente.

“Both appointments represent another step to materialize the vision of President Arévalo de León, that development is built from, with and for the population,” the statement mentions.
