Having William by my side is also a great source of comfort and reassurance. As well as the love, support and kindness that so many of you have shown me. It means so much to both of us.
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you personally for all the wonderful messages of support and understanding while I recover from surgery. It was an incredibly difficult two months for our whole family, but I had a fantastic medical team who looked after me really well, for which I am so grateful.”
The princess added: “It took us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that was suitable for them and to reassure them that I would be fine.” He said the family now needed “some time, space and privacy”.
The news comes several weeks after Buckingham Palace confirmed that King Charles had been diagnosed with cancer.
Kensington Palace said the video of the princess was filmed on Wednesday by BBC Studios, the BBC’s production arm.
Princess Kate and Prince William are now not expected to appear with the Royal Family on Easter Sunday and there will be no early return to official duties for the Princess for the time being.
