“Kate, you are not alone”: Britain in shock

The British newspapers all reported on page one on Saturday about the fate of the popular princess. “Kate, you’re not alone,” headlined The Sun tabloid.

Kate made her cancer diagnosis public in a video message on Friday, after there had been widespread speculation about her health in recent weeks. The Princess of Wales said the cancer was discovered after her abdominal surgery in mid-January. She is now undergoing chemotherapy.

But she is “doing well” and feeling “stronger every day,” she said. The doctors advised her to undergo “preventive chemotherapy” “and I am now in the initial phase of this treatment.” She did not say exactly what type of cancer she was suffering from.

Second bad news from their royal family

For the British it was the second bad news from their royal family after King Charles III. had only announced that he had cancer at the beginning of February. Charles III said on Friday evening that he was “proud” of Kate, who had shown “courage” by announcing her cancer diagnosis.

Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, who were at odds with his family, also wished their sister-in-law “health and healing” immediately after the news was announced. “We wish Kate and her family health and healing and hope that they can do so privately and in peace,” the couple, who live in California, said in a statement on Friday.

“Very touched”

“The Sun” wrote on Saturday that it was “incredibly comforting” to hear that Kate was feeling a little better. Perhaps the world will now understand why there was so much mystery surrounding her operation in January. Commentators praised the natural way in which Kate, sitting on a garden bench in front of the camera, informed her compatriots about her illness.

“Many people will be very touched by the way she carried herself in this recording,” said British royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams. “But there is no doubt that this is a very, very difficult time for the institution of the monarchy.”

Princess Catherine – commonly known as Kate – turned 42 on January 9th. She has three children with William, the older son of King Charles III: ten-year-old George, eight-year-old Charlotte and five-year-old Louis. She attended her last public appointment before she became ill on December 25th.

With King Charles III. The cancer was discovered in January during a hospital stay because of a benign enlargement of the prostate. According to Palast, it is not prostate cancer. The 75-year-old began therapy and is currently putting his public engagements on hold.
