Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo appointed Supreme Court Justice Roh Tae-ak as the chairman of the National Election Commission.

The Supreme Court said, “As Chairman Roh Jung-hee, chairman of the National Election Commission, recently expressed his intention to resign as a member, we have decided to appoint Supreme Court Justice Roh Tae-ak as a replacement member in accordance with Article 114 (2) of the Constitution, taking into consideration his personality and trust both inside and outside the court.” .

The Supreme Court said, “Nominee Roh Tae-ak has excellent abilities as an orthodox legal expert with various trial experiences and meticulous legal theory.” He explained the reason for the appointment.

He added, “Nominee Roh Tae-ak performed a reasonable and fair trial in accordance with the laws and principles, and has experience in serving as chairman of the Election Commission and as an election commissioner.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court plans to request a hearing at the National Assembly on Nominee Roh Tae-ak soon. When the request for a personnel hearing is received by the National Assembly, the National Assembly Legislative and Judiciary Committee confirms the personnel hearing schedule and conducts a hearing.

Meanwhile, former National Election Commission Chairman Roh Jeong-hee (Chief Justice) expressed his resignation on the 18th after receiving pressure from the political circles to resign due to the controversy over poor management of pre-election voting.
