On Monday there was a groundbreaking ceremony for the new children’s educational facility on Durisolstrasse with six kindergarten and four playroom groups. The operator is the FPÖ-affiliated association “Abenteuer Familie Kinder- und Jugendpflege”. He has also been running the kindergarten on Mohnstrasse since 2017.
“The new kindergarten building will create urgently needed childcare places,” emphasizes Vice Mayor Christa Raggl-Mühlberger. With the realization of this large project, another gap in care could be closed and the compatibility of work and family could be improved.
The kindergarten is supported by the state of Upper Austria and the city of Wels. Completion is planned for autumn 2025. There is space for a total of 174 children, making the kindergarten the largest childcare facility in Wels, according to Abenteuer Familie.
One of the ten groups will be run as an integration group. When selecting the play equipment, the needs of the integration children are taken into account.
