Knicks Trade Rumors: Evan Fournier’s Future and Potential Multi-Team Transfer

While the Summer League is still underway, many rumors reach us from Las Vegas, where all the NBA teams are today gathered for the traditional summer competition. Among the names that come up when it comes to transfer, there is in particular that of Frenchman Evan Fournier, who is no longer part of the Knicks’ plans.

It’s been a while since we realized that Evan and New York didn’t really have a future together. The 30-year-old French back has become a bench driver within Tom Thibodeau’s rotation, and Fournier’s contract situation – about to enter his final year on contract – makes him a natural transfer candidate for the Knicks.

It is therefore no surprise that we learn, via Jake Fischer de Yahoo Sportswhich the New York franchise is still looking to trade Vavane, possibly in a multi-team transfer.

With one more year of contract (the Knicks have a team option for the 2024-25 season) and an annual salary of almost 19 million dollars, Evan Fournier is not a difficult player to transfer. Indeed, a contract that is about to expire often interests franchises (to free up payroll) and then his salary can very well fit into a bigger multi-team deal. The Knicks still have to find a trade that suits them in their objective to strengthen themselves via good rotation players or even an additional star.

For Fournier, in any case, the future seems to be written far from the Big Apple. Evan had already indicated a few weeks ago that he did not see himself continuing at the Knicks, and that they did not imagine his franchise keeping him. Logical when we know that Vavane remains on a campaign with only 27 games played (7 as a starter), for barely 17 minutes and stats of 6.1 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists at 33.7% in shot.

At 30, Evan Fournier wants to change his environment to prove that he can still be a productive player in the NBA. Let’s not forget that he was still averaging almost 20 points at the Magic two years ago, and that he remains one of the pillars of the French team in major international competitions. Speaking of EDF, Fournier will no doubt want to take advantage of the next World Cup to make an impression, and at the same time attract the attention of certain franchises after his very difficult campaign at the Knicks. This may be the springboard he needs to bounce back in the NBA, potentially in an ambitious team looking for scoring…
