South Korea, the US and Japan held missile defense exercises in the East Sea today (22nd).

This is the second training after the first training in October of last year.

This is a response to North Korea’s recent ‘Hwasong-15’ intercontinental ballistic missile ICBM provocation.

The possibility of additional provocations by North Korea is also raised under the pretext of this.

South Korea, the US and Japan conducted missile defense exercises in the East Sea.

This is the second Korea-US-Japan joint maritime drill that took place in four months since last October.

The first exercise focused on responding to an intermediate-range ballistic missile IRBM launched by North Korea over the Japanese archipelago, and this training focused on responding to North Korea’s ICBM provocation.

Aegis ships from Korea, the U.S., and Japan share virtual missile target information to detect, track, and intercept them.

Our Sejong the Great, which can be detected and tracked, shares information with the US, which then shares it with Japan, and ultimately, the US hits virtual targets with SM-3 interceptor missiles.

A military official explained that the training took place from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and was successfully completed.

I am interested in how North Korea will react to this exercise as an excuse.

This is because there are not a few cases in which North Korea made armed provocations by blaming our legitimate joint drills.

On the day of the South Korea-US-Japan training in October of last year, North Korea sent out 12 fighter jets.

At the time, the South Korean military judged that it was unusual for North Korean military aircraft to fly in formation and fly south of the special surveillance ship.

A military official said that the missile defense drill will be held on a regular basis as needed.
