Korea’s short track speed skating re-challenge for medals in women’s 500m and men’s 1,000m

Korea’s short track track track recorder, which ended up being knocked out of the preliminary round by shock in the mixed relay where they expected the first medal at the Beijing Olympics, is hunting for medals in the individual event.

Korea will compete in the women’s 500m and men’s 1,000m quarterfinals at the 24th Beijing Winter Olympics to be held at the Capital Indoor Stadium in Beijing, China starting tomorrow (7th) at 8:30 pm local time (KST).

In the women’s 500m, Choi Min-jung and Lee Yu-bin competed in the preliminary round held yesterday, but Lee Yu-bin was eliminated, and Choi Min-jung alone challenges from the gate of the quarterfinals.

On the other hand, in the men’s 1,000m, Hwang Dae-heon, Lee Jun-seo, and Park Jang-hyuk passed the preliminary round on the 5th, inflating the possibility of winning the medal.

Korea was eliminated from the preliminary round in the mixed relay where they expected their first medal yesterday, and the atmosphere was somewhat depressed, but they are determined to rebound with an individual medal today.

In the women’s 500m event, Korea hasn’t been strong enough to achieve the highest achievements in the Olympic Games, with the bronze medals of Seunghee Park in Nagano in 1998 and Bronze medal in Sochi in 2014.

In the men’s 1,000m, Hwang Dae-heon, Lee Jun-seo, and Park Jang-hyuk have a high chance of entering the medal right through the preliminary rounds.

In biathlon and luge, naturalized athletes compete side by side.

Ekaterina Abbakumova and Kim will participate in the women’s 15km biathlon individual event, and Frische Eileen Christina will participate in the women’s luge singles 1st and 2nd races.

Abbakumova, a naturalized Russian athlete, ranked 16th in Pyeongchang 2018, and Frische, a naturalized German athlete, ranked 8th in Pyeongchang 2018.

In the women’s alpine skiing competition, Kang Young-seo and Kim So-hee challenge to place in the upper middle.
