Reinforcing what was said by the journalist Mark Gurmanyes Bloombergand on the other leaker this week, the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the expected 15 inch macbook air will be equipped with the processor M2and not with the M2 Pro or an “M3”.

Despite some previous information talking regarding launching a new chip, the chance of this happening with the new computer now seems quite small.

Kuo also said that the machine will really belong to the Air line – in the face of some doubts regarding the nomenclature and the positioning of the computer in the company’s product line. According to the analyst, there will be two chip options, but they should only be versions of the M2 itself with different numbers of cores, as with the current MacBook Air – which has versions with 8 and 10 GPU coresGraphics processing unitor graphics processing unit.”>1.

[Atualizações de previsões e revisão]
1. The new 15″ MacBook model should be named MacBook Air.
2. To reiterate, the upcoming 15″ MacBook Air will include the M2 lineup and will offer two choices of processor specs. However, it is more likely that the two options are the M2 with different cores (similar to the 13″ MacBook Air M2).
3. Mass production of the M3 chip is expected to start in the second half of 2023, just before the M3 Pro and M3 Max.
4. The 15″ MacBook Air production estimate in 2023 is 5-6 million units. Production of the components and the computer is expected to peak in the end and third quarter of 2023, respectively.

The analyst also gave information regarding the alleged processor “M3” — which, for him, will begin to be mass-produced only in the second half of this year, just before the manufacture of its more powerful brothers (“M3 Pro” and “M3 Max”). That is, still some time following the launch of the aforementioned new MacBook, which should take place between April and June — reinforcing the idea that the new machine will come with the M2.

Still, judging by its forecast of the number of units produced, one can imagine that Apple’s expectation for the new MacBook is reasonably positive. Let’s see now when the product will be released and other details regarding it when it happens!
