Kurdistan Security Council: The objective of yesterday’s attack in Erbil is to destabilize the region

After the injuries occurred last night in a drone attack in Erbil, the Security Council of the Kurdistan Region says in a statement that the aim of this attack is to “destabilize the security of the region.”

  • Kurdistan Security Council: Kurdistan does not succumb to these attacks

The Security Council of the Kurdistan Region said today, Thursday, that the aim of the attack, which took place last night via a drone, on Erbil was to “destabilize the security of the region.”

The regional council considered in a statement that the attack on Erbil is one of a series of attacks aimed at destabilizing the security of the region.

The statement added, “After the attack, the official websites of the internal forces published, as before, that this attack was a vehicle belonging to the Israeli Mossad and led to the death of one person.” They saw with their own eyes the type of attack and its causes, and this news became untrue and fake.”

The Council considered that “with these propaganda they want to cover their weakness and failure and weaken the security of the region from within the capital, Erbil,” noting that “the Kurdistan region does not succumb to these attacks and announced that neighboring countries must respect the sovereignty of the land and the people of Kurdistan and Iraq.”

The Counter-Terrorism Service in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq announced yesterday night, 3 people injuredand material damage to cars, in a drone attack.

The statement stated that “a booby-trapped drone exploded at 9:35 pm on Biramam Road in Erbil,” adding that it “led to the injury of 3 civilians, while a restaurant and several cars were damaged.”

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
