Kuwait launched a 40-inch strategic gas pipeline, extending from the north of the country to Mina Al-Ahmadi, south of the Kuwaiti capital.

In the context, “Kuwait Petroleum Corporation” said that the launch of the line comes as a complement and in line with the strategic plan to increase natural gas production, to meet the requirements of the local market.

The company did not indicate any details regarding the fields from which the gas will be transported to the port, or the possibility of using quantities of this gas for export, or only meeting local demand.

Kuwait plans to increase natural gas production from 500 million cubic feet per day, to about one billion cubic feet.

There is a refinery in Mina Al-Ahmadi that includes a gas liquefaction plant and pipelines for exporting liquefied gas and refined petroleum products. The refinery receives liquefied gas to produce fuel gas and convert it into an energy source that can be used in electric power stations, multiple industries, and home and commercial facilities.

Kuwait is an oil country, more than a gas producer, as it produces 2.8 million barrels of oil per day, according to data from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
