Kyle Davidson Arraigned for Sexually Abusing 14-Year-Old

A 35-year-old Lincoln man is being held in the Lancaster County Jail after being arraigned Wednesday on charges that he sexually abused a 14-year-old girl inside his home, with police saying they recovered video evidence from an SD card the man voluntarily surrendered to investigators.

Kyle Davidson faces charges of third-degree sexual assault of a child and child abuse in Lancaster County Court. He was taken into custody Tuesday following an investigation that began when the teen gave a handwritten note to her teacher on Oct. 2 alleging inappropriate touching by the Lincoln man.

The case moved quickly from that initial disclosure to arrest, with court documents showing police interviewed both the girl and Davidson on the same day the note surfaced. Davidson’s bond was set at 10% of $100,000, and his next hearing is scheduled for Dec. 9.

Davidson arraigned on child sexual assault charges

Davidson, 35, appeared in Lancaster County Court on Wednesday for arraignment on the felony charges. Prosecutors allege he sexually abused a 14-year-old girl at his Lincoln residence. The specific charges include third-degree sexual assault of a child and child abuse under Nebraska law.

He was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Lancaster County Jail, where he remains in custody pending further proceedings.

Handwritten note to teacher started investigation

The investigation began Oct. 2 when the 14-year-old handed her teacher a handwritten note stating she was being inappropriately touched by Davidson, according to court documents. Later that day, Lincoln police interviewed the teen, who provided further details about the alleged sexual abuse.

During a separate interview that same day, Davidson told officers he didn’t know why the teen would say those things, the documents show.

SD card contained videos from September 2

Court documents reveal that Davidson told investigators he had a camera installed in the home where the alleged abuse occurred. He claimed the SD card was not working but voluntarily handed it over to police during the interview.

When officers reviewed the card, they found two videos dated Sept. 2 showing Davidson allegedly sexually abusing the teen, according to the documents.

What the defendant told police

According to court records, Davidson denied any wrongdoing during his interview with investigators, stating he did not know why the 14-year-old would make the allegations against him. He acknowledged the presence of a camera in the room but maintained the SD card was malfunctioning, even as he turned the storage device over to authorities voluntarily.

Bond set at $10,000 cash, December hearing scheduled

Davidson remains lodged in the Lancaster County Jail following his Tuesday arrest. The court set his bond at 10% of $100,000, requiring a $10,000 payment for release. His next hearing is scheduled for Dec. 9 in Lancaster County Court.
