La Banque Postale Fee Hikes 2027: What Will Change

As the French banking sector recalibrates fee structures ahead of the new fiscal year, La Banque Postale is implementing a broad upward revision across its consumer pricing schedule, effective January 1, 2027. Standard account maintenance fees will increase to 25.80€ annually, representing a 2.38% progression from the previous 25.20€ baseline, as reported by moneyvox.fr.

Account Management and Package Adjustments

  • Maintenance Costs: Standard account fees rise to 2.15€ monthly, while the Alliatys Visa Classic bundled package increases by 2.60% to 94.80€ per year.
  • Transaction Penalties: Out-of-network ATM withdrawals in the eurozone jump by 15% starting from the fourth monthly transaction.
  • Asset Transfers: Fees for transferring PEA equity savings plans and standard securities accounts more than double to 15€ per line.

The financial adjustments touch nearly every corner of the institution’s retail offerings. The entry-level bundled service package, marketed as Alliatys with a Visa Classic card, shifts from 92.40€ to 94.80€ per year, translating to a monthly cost of 7.90€ compared to the prior 7.70€ rate.

Meanwhile, the institution is raising fees for specific in-branch execution. The cost of executing an occasional bank transfer via a human adviser moves from 6€ to 6.20€, marking a 3.33% increase.

Card Tier Revalorizations and Out-of-Network Penalties

Every tier within the debit and credit card lineup faces higher annual membership fees, irrespective of whether customers select immediate or deferred debit modalities. The top-tier Visa Infinite card climbs from 345.20€ to 356.48€, a 3.27% increase. The Visa Platinum follows with a 3.87% jump, moving from 214€ to 222.28€.

Middle-tier and standard cards absorb similar adjustments. The Visa Premier edges upward by 3.57% to 146.24€, while the widely held Visa Classic moves from 47.60€ to 49.40€, representing a 3.78% rise. The Visa systematic authorization card sees the most restrained adjustment in the category, advancing 1.74% from 34.50€ to 35.10€ for immediate debit.

ATM usage outside the proprietary network also incurs steeper penalties. Cash withdrawals executed at automated tellers belonging to competing financial institutions increase notably. Beginning with the fourth monthly withdrawal within the eurozone, transaction fees rise from 1€ to 1.15€, registering a 15% surcharge.

Restructuring of Overdraft Rates and Financial Placements

Credit and lending facilities are undergoing a parallel tightening. The authorized overdraft interest rate moves from 16% to 17%. For unauthorized overdrafts and excess borrowing, the debtor rate increases from 17.00% to 18.00%.

Administrative management fees for authorized overdrafts remain anchored at 7.20€, maintaining exemptions for overdrafts under 300€ and clients aged 18 to 29. However, the fixed minimum quarterly fee of 3€ is being eliminated entirely to comply with new consumer credit regulations banning such flat-rate charges.

The steepest percentage increases target investment portfolio administration. Transferring a Plan Épargne en Actions (PEA) equity savings plan will cost 15€ per line instead of 7€, doubling the expense by 114.29% while maintaining the existing 150€ ceiling. Standard securities accounts undergo an identical per-line fee doubling to 15€, alongside a rise in the minimum billing threshold from 65€ to 70€.

Estate Processing and Succession Overhauls

The management of estates and successions is experiencing a fundamental structural overhaul. Previously provided without charge in most circumstances, succession processing fees are returning for families of deceased account holders. This shift follows a decision by the Constitutional Council, which invalidated the core legal framework previously shielding families from these banking charges.

Under the revised framework, fee-free succession processing is restricted exclusively to estates where total assets do not exceed 10,000€. For estates surpassing this threshold, a flat 1% rate applies, subject to an absolute ceiling of 857€. Exemptions remain fully protected for cases involving minor decedents.
