La Courneuve: the pregnant woman who disembowelled her companion denies having acted intentionally

After prolonged custody, the 29-year-old woman who disemboweled her 27-year-old boyfriend last Wednesday in La Courneuve (Seine-Saint-Denis) was brought before a magistrate this Friday. The Bobigny prosecution has opened a judicial investigation for attempted homicide by spouse. He also requested the placement under judicial supervision of the young woman.

This one, pregnant, had planted a kitchen knife equipped with a 30 cm blade in the belly of her victim causing him a deep wound but without vital prognosis engaged. A fight broke out at 7 a.m. in the couple’s apartment. The injured, still hospitalized, was operated on but he could not be heard by the investigators.

The man declined to file a complaint

Throughout her custody, the alleged author denied having acted intentionally, although she varied in her statements. In a new version, she reportedly said that she threw objects at her companion’s head, including a knife that accidentally stuck in his stomach. The man declined to press charges.

This case stands out from the many marital dramas where the man is overwhelmingly the author. Last year, in France, 113 women were killed by their spouse or their ex. This year, 60 women have already perished under the violence of their companion, including two in Seine-Saint-Denis. Edna Daconceicao, 31, the latest victim from this blacklist, died after being stabbed twice by her companion on the night of July 15 to 16 in Noisy-le-Sec. The latter committed suicide on July 19 in the morning. He had just been remanded in custody at Villepinte prison.
