The kickers from Bundesliga club FC Blau-Weiß Linz returned from the winter break today without the ball at their feet. Blau-Weiß Linz performance diagnostician Bernhard Schimpl got down to business with lactate, muscle function and jumping tests.
This not only cost the BW players a lot of sweat, but also a little blood: the results of the lactate taken should be available to the coaching team next weekend. On this basis, the performance of each individual player can be determined and fitness training can be controlled individually.
Scheiblehner doesn’t assume that his kickers could have rested too much during the Christmas holidays: “The break was too short for that, and every player had to complete a home program, which was also checked. They are all professionals, the body is theirs tool,” says Scheiblehner, who was also active himself: In addition to a skiing holiday with his blue-and-white trainer colleagues, he also completed the occasional run. “Let’s see how long I can keep my New Year’s resolution to do more exercise again,” says the 46-year-old with a smile.
Ronivaldo is sweating for his comeback
Striker Ronivaldo was one of the first to use the ergometer today. The Brazilian has also been busy in the past few weeks: After tearing ankle ligaments against Sturm Graz, the 34-year-old decided not to go on vacation and instead worked on his comeback with the blue and white fitness coaches over the past few weeks. Scheiblehner: “He should be fully fit again by the training camp.”
Others still have some time before they are closely examined in the performance test: the legionnaires like Paul Mensah, Conor Noß and Danilo Mitrovic won’t have their turn until the weekend.
