League 1 – What do Sport Huancayo or FBC Melgar need to win the Opening Tournament?

This weekend FBC Melgar and Sport Huancayo won their respective duels for the penultimate date of Phase 1 and, with this, both teams reach the last day with intact chances to be crowned champions of the Opening Tournament.

The red and black team beat Atlético Grau 1-0 at home, while Sport Huancayo won 2-0 over Universitario de Deportes, so the winner of Phase 1 will come from one of these two teams.

Melgar added 40 points and Huancayo 37 units, so, in the absence of a date, the “rojinegros” must win or draw against Alianza Atlético de Sullana to be crowned champion of Phase 1.

While Sport Huancayo will also have to play against Sport Boys in Lima and will have to win hoping that FBC Melgar loses his commitment. In this case, both would be left with 40 points and the Huancainos could be champions because they have a better goal difference.

It should be remembered that FBC Melgar adds +12 and Sport Huancayo +16 in goal difference, which could be decisive in case the “rojinegros” fall and the Huancainos achieve a victory. Any other result would give the Arequipa team the champion of Phase 1.

The duels of both teams will be played simultaneously next Sunday, June 3, starting at 3:00 pm.
