Today, Saturday, Al-Ahly and Zamalek handball teams will start the play-offs in the African Cup Winners’ Club Championship held in Niger, where the matches of the eighth round of the tournament will start today.
Al-Ahly and Zamalek teams succeeded in qualifying for the quarter-finals of the African Cup Winners Club Championship by achieving the full mark in the first round in the competition held in Niger.
Today, Saturday, at one in the afternoon, Al-Ahly team will meet with Niamey of Nigeria, and Zamalek will meet with Kirkos of Ethiopia at three in the afternoon.
The history of the two teams in the tournament witnesses the crowning of Zamalek with the title 5 times before, in 1985, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2016, while Al-Ahly won the title in 2013, 2017, 2018, 2018, 2021.
Al-Ahly managed to win its first and second matches in the current edition against Kiroux of Ethiopia and Bosco of the Ivorian, before beating the Cameroonian Fab at the end of the first round, while Zamalek beat Flowers of Benin, Niamey of Nigeria and Canio Pillars.
“Men’s Hand Al-Ahly” crowned the African Super Cup and qualified for the Club World Cup “Super Globe”, after the team’s victory over Zamalek, 32-31, in the match that was held on Sunday at General Seni Konchi Hall in the capital, Niamey, Niger.
