THE SON of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, Bronny James, has said he will enter the 2024 NBA draft despite a lackluster first year in college basketball with the University of Southern California.
Bronny James said on Instagram that he would enter the draft and enter the NCAA transfer portal, which would allow him to move to another college team.
“I’ve had a year full of ups and downs, but it all adds up to my growth as a man, student and athlete,” said Bronny James, quoted by AFP.
He also thanked USC and their staff for their support in his freshman season. Bronny James collapsed suddenly while training with the USC team in Los Angeles, last July.

The heart attack episode and subsequent treatment sidelined Bronny James for five months and led to a relatively low season for a player who had been an All-American in high school.

Bronny James, who played his first game in December, averaged 4.8 points per game in the 24 games he played.
If Bronny James is taken by a team in the NBA draft, it would increase the chances of him being on the same court as his father, who will turn 40 in December.
LeBron James, who last season passed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, is unlikely to encourage his son to join the Lakers.
Agent Rich Paul, who manages LeBron James and his son, said in March that LeBron James would love it if it happened organically. Also, LeBron James wants Bronny to be himself. (AFP/Z-1)
