Crosby, born in Los Angeles in 1941, dropped out of college to pursue music. After trying his luck in different parts of the United States, he joined The Byrds in 1964, who, the following year, got their first number 1 with a version of “Mr Tambourine Man” by Bob Dylan. Tensions within the band led to its dissolution in 1967.

In 1968 Crosby formed Crosby, Stills & Nash con Stephen Stills de Buffalo Springfield y Graham Nash de los Hollies. The following year, their self-titled debut album earned them a Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Neil Young would join the group shortly thereafter, the band becoming Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Their second concert together took place at the legendary Woodstock festival on August 18, 1969. The band would break up and reunite several times over the years, and in the meantime Crosby would release his first solo album, ‘If I Could Only Remember My Name’ (1971).

Crosby collaborated, in turn, with artists of stature Joni Mitchell, Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Art Garfunkel, Carole King y Elton John, among others. Crosby Stills & Nash would end up being part of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, also becoming the first band whose members managed to enter the institution twice.
