More than a million people have fled the northern Gaza Strip in panic. Israel continues to mobilize its troops for an imminent ground offensive against Palestinian Hamas.

As a reminder, The war between Israel and Hamas was triggered after a bloody and unprecedented attack launched on October 7 by Hamas against Israeli territory. More than 1,400 people have been killed in Israel, the majority civilians, according to a latest Israeli report. Israeli retaliations have killed at least 2,670 people in Gaza, the majority Palestinian civilians, including hundreds of children, according to local authorities.

Having been on the move for several days, American Secretary of State Antony Blinken is due to return to Israel this Monday, for a second visit in a week, after a tour of several Arab countries.

Faced with airstrikes and calls from the army to evacuate the north of the Gaza Strip, more than a million people were displaced in one week in this 362 km² territory, which has a total of 2.4 million inhabitants, according to the UN.

The Israeli army confirmed that it was preparing for a “next step” in its retaliatory operation against Hamas, responsible for the deadliest attack since the creation of Israel, saying it was awaiting a “political decision”.

These preparations are of great concern to the international community, which fears that the conflict will engulf the region.
