After the Vice-President of the People’s Republic of China Han Zheng, the head of the Guinean transition also met with the Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) in New York on the sidelines of the general assembly of ONU. At the end of this meeting, Rwandan Louise Mushikiwaboi gave her impression of the conduct of the Guinean transition.
According to her, Guinea is a “good example” among the countries in transition in West Africa. “We have OIF experts working in Guinea alongside Guineans who are rebuilding the country. We will continue this support until the next elections. In the OIF evaluation, Guinea is one of the countries making the best progress. The commitments of the Head of State and the country in relation to the OIF are respected.
It was important to encourage the Head of State to continue with this aim. We have a lot of political and security crises in West Africa, it is important for the OIF to be able to support a State which gives us the impression of being a State which will get through it. Obviously, there is still a way to go, but this support from the OIF will continue,” reassured Louise Mushikiwabo.
Continuing, she added: “The President (Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, editor’s note) gives me the impression of a sincere man, it is true that this is our first meeting, but I have followed him for a year what what he says and what he does. For an organization like ours, it is important to be able to count on leaders who make an effort to follow through on their commitments. It’s not easy, but for me, listening to him, he gives me the impression of a man who says what he thinks in a sincere way.
