LH Mikl-Leitner: The scientific axis extends from Klosterneuburg, Krems, Tulln and Wieselburg to Wiener Neustadt
St. Pölten (OTS) – Yesterday afternoon, Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner opened the “Lower Austria Research Festival” in Herrengasse in the Palais Niederösterreich in Vienna, which took place for the fourth time this year. Over 70 research stations showed current projects and interesting facts from science and research. Children, young people and adults were able to come into direct contact with scientists, ask questions, discover new things and carry out experiments themselves. In addition to the stations, a varied program with show acts provided entertainment, and there were also two puzzle rallies for different age groups with small prizes on site.
“In Lower Austria, over the last 20 years, we have succeeded very well in establishing a scientific axis that extends from Klosterneuburg, Krems, Tulln and Wieselburg to Wiener Neustadt,” said Mikl-Leitner, who also emphasized: “We have the ISTA in Klosterneuburg established that deals with basic research and is now an institution that is recognized worldwide. We are on a par with institutions like Oxford, ETH Zurich and the Weizmann Institute. In Tulln we have the ‘House of Digitalization’ and the research campus with a focus on ‘Environment and Technology’. And in Wiener Neustadt there is the international health center MedAustron, a hope project in the fight against cancer.” The state governor expressed respect, thanks and recognition to the researchers present.
LH deputy Pernkopf explained: “The institutions in the Lower Austrian research landscape work very well together and there is an admirable output that is worth seeing. We as the federal state of Lower Austria want to be a magnet for top researchers from all over the world.” At the Lower Austria Research Festival, scientific content is presented in a playful and entertaining way, so that the event is particularly interesting for children and young people, says Pernkopf.
At yesterday’s event, many educational and research institutions that work in the state of Lower Austria were brought to the fore. The country wants to bring people closer to a wide range of topics in the areas of science and research.
