Luis Díaz: English media ask him to take Sadio Mané’s ’10’ | Colombians Abroad

England surrenders once again at the feet of Luis Fernando Díaz Marulanda after an unpromising debut against Fulham, which left criticism in the press, and a harsh blow saying that Díaz was not the perfect replacement for Sadio Mané. Then it was another tie in which the peasant scored Liverpool’s only goal against Crystal Palace where his path began to straighten out. Against Manchester United, the first defeat where he did not shine, and then, he uncovered himself with a double in a 9-0 win over Bournemouth where the praise reappeared.

Two brilliant headers, but the English press kept the first one that was three minutes into the game. A 9/10 score that catapulted Luis Díaz back into the spotlight of the local media and around the world. Little by little, he changes those initial criticisms for praise and begins to be that heir to the left wing that for many years remained in the hands and feet of Sadio Mané.

It is no coincidence that people are already beginning to see Luis Fernando Díaz as the perfect substitute for Sadio Mané. So much so, that the BBC mentions, “Luis Díaz needs to be more like Sadio Mané, who started wide, but he always ended up in the area. This will help him replace the Senegalese superstar’s goal comeback. Diaz has three goals in four appearances so far, which is a good comeback anyway, but he can produce even more if he attacks the box like he did on Saturday.”

After the departure of Sadio Mané, the great unknown arrived at Liverpool. Who would keep the number ’10’? However, the numbers remained the same, at least in those who were expected to take it like Mohammed Salah or Luis Díaz with 11 and 23 respectively. But now, the English press asks that the heir to that number should be the peasant.

For the BBC, the way for Luis Díaz to get that number could only be carried out if the Colombian becomes a little more rebellious and begins to lead on the pitch and have the attitude he had against Bournemouth of leaving the left wing and getting into to the area to define as Sadio Mané himself did.

The British outlet wrote, “Luis Diaz needs to get into the penalty area regularly and we will see many more goals and assists from Liverpool’s Colombian midfielder. In the first three games of the season, Diaz was guilty of spending too much time on the left flank and playing backwards, rather than dribbling into the opposite goal. In fact, he and Mo Salah were miles apart and couldn’t connect, but at the weekend they both cut inside and looked to attack the area between full-back and centre-back.

Luis Fernando Díaz and Liverpool will have a new game at Anfield for the fifth day of the Premier League when they host Newcastle United. Surely, Díaz will be a starter on the left wing. He will be left in question as to whether he will go back to lying on the side and not coming out of it, or like he did with Bournemouth going into the box.
