Very fragmented with 5 operators in mobile and more than 10 operators in fixed broadband, which only equip a relatively small part of the population because the Mezzogiorno has historically equipped itself with mobile, the Italian telecoms market seems to be the day before a radical recomposition.
Challenged by the price war launched by Iliad, especially in mobile, the sector is calling for a consolidation phase which would give operators more room for financial maneuver. Its stakeholders as well as its analysts are convinced that it is for 2024, even if the road may be long.
