The summer thunderstorm at the weekend flooded a construction site on Autobahn 7 in Hamburg. The rain undermined a lane north of the Elbe tunnel. The sagging area must now be repaired.
The carriageway north of Hamburg’s Elbe tunnel, which collapsed after heavy rain, impeded traffic on the northbound autobahn. Because of the damaged area between the Hamburg-Othmarschen and Bahrenfeld junctions, one of three lanes had to be closed, said a spokeswoman for Autobahn GmbH Nord.
The northbound lane must be closed
The road section in the construction site for the Altona noise protection tunnel is to be repaired on Thursday night. For this purpose, a closure will be set up from this evening, 9 p.m., to Thursday, 5 a.m., in the north between the Hamburg-Othmarschen and Bahrenfeld exits. Until this evening, traffic could only pass the washed-out area on two lanes.
Detours will be set up
Autobahn GmbH recommends using the detour via the A1, A21 and B205 between the Maschener Kreuz south of Hamburg and the Neumünster-Süd junction during the closure. Inner-city drivers should avoid the Elbe bridges. A spokeswoman for the motorway company emphasized that the B4, the B75 or the B73 should be used if possible. This means exiting or driving onto the A7 at the Seevetal-Fleestedt, Hamburg-Marmstorf or -Heimfeld junctions. There is no detour route via the Hamburg-Othmarschen junction, the spokeswoman said.
