Ernakulam: Film director Raman Ashok Kumar (60) passed away. He died in a private hospital in Kochi. He is a native of Varkala.
He is famous in the field of film direction with the name Ashokan. He is also an IT entrepreneur

Mookilla Rajyath was a super hit released by Asokan-Taha collaboration. Varnam and Acharya are the films released under Ashoka’s direction. He worked as a co-director for about 100 films with Sasikumar. After marriage, Ashokan moved to Singapore with his relatives and turned to business.

He was settling down there and concentrating on business. He came from Singapore and died while undergoing treatment here. He has also directed the telefilm Kanappuramun. It won the State Government Award for Best Telefilm of the year. Wife: Sita. Daughter: Abhirami
