In the men’s singles pre-quarters, Prannoy defeated Indonesia’s Tommy Sugiarto in straight games to reach the last eight. Score: 21-9, 21-17. Prannoy won in just 36 minutes. Prannoy recently won the Malaysian Masters Super 300 title. Along with that, he reached the semi-finals of the Indonesia Open. Pranoi will face Hong Kong’s fifth seed Angus Ng Ka Long in the quarters.
Meanwhile, another player of India, P. Kashyap, lost in men’s singles. Commonwealth Games medalist Kashyap lost to Su Li Yang of Chinese Taipei. Score: 16-21, 17-21.
