Malia Fang, a five-star prospect and two-time national balance beam champion in the Women’s Development Program National Championships, announced her commitment to Mizzou gymnastics.
Fang Adds Stability to Mizzou Recruiting Trajectory
- Recruiting Momentum: This commitment builds upon Mizzou’s recent recruiting trajectory, following a No. 6 class in 2026 and a No. 22 class in 2027.
- Depth Chart Stability: As the third verbal commit for the 2028 cycle, Fang provides immediate stability alongside four-star Annie Cole and three-star Karlin Kirk.
Fang Wins National Balance Beam Titles
Fang’s commitment follows an extensive evaluation window that included official visits to several prominent collegiate gymnastics programs.
Her competitive résumé features back-to-back national balance beam titles at the Women’s Development Program National Championships, winning gold in both 2025 and 2026. At the 2025 national championships, she also secured a first-place all-around finish, fifth in vault, and seventh on the uneven bars. She followed that performance at the 2026 national championships by placing sixth in vault and eighth all-around.
Club Preparation and Class of 2028 Outlook
Representing the Twin City Twisters club and attending Eagan High School, Fang has maintained a dominant presence on the regional and national club circuits. Her preparation included a sweep at the 2025 Chow’s Winter Classic, where she placed first in the all-around, vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise.
Mizzou gymnastics has steadily climbed the national recruiting rankings over recent cycles. With Fang joining Annie Cole and Karlin Kirk in the Class of 2028, the coaching staff continues to secure elite talent to maintain competitiveness within the Southeastern Conference.
