More than a hundred victims were waiting for the Hasselt correctional to render justice to them this Friday morning. A 27-year-old man from Velm (Saint-Trond) had to answer for his actions. He is accused of posting around 200 nude photos of underage girls on an internet forum. After storing these images online, the man gave access to the files to his friends. Three victims spoke and told their story in front of the judge.

The 27-year-old, between November 2017 and March 2018, uploaded hundreds of photos of different girls and women on the web before sharing them with his friends. To this end, the former scout leader has multiplied the means to obtain them: on revenge porn sites, by extracting them directly from young girls, or by hacking his victims. A total of 199 files were found, most of which included information about their home.

“He had become something of a dealer,” the prosecutor said, referring to the fact that the man sometimes even provided images of specific people upon request. “He went to great lengths to search and classify these images, to find the place of residence of the victims. He was not lacking in motivation.”

The facts came to light after several victims turned themselves in to police in March 2018, after finding their photos online. Three of them appeared physically in court, seven others were represented by a lawyer. The prosecutor finally accepted a suspension of the sentence, but under strict conditions. This means that he escapes his sentence if he does not reoffend during a determined period.
