The Prosecutor’s Office of the Province of Luxembourg (Belgium) announced the death of a man in Arlon prison on Saturday. “An Arlon man in his thirties, in preventive detention for several months as part of a morals case under investigation, committed suicide,” said the judicial administration. The inmate was found dead on Saturday morning, December 30, in his cell. This is suicide by medication. Note that the man had already made two suicide attempts since his incarceration.

At the end of May 2023, the thirty-year-old was arrested at his workplace, a municipal school where he worked as a childminder. The defendant was charged following a complaint from a mother of two young children. The latter had denounced alleged “sexual games” which would have taken place outside the professional context, during babysitting.
