Arnaud (32) appeared before the Mons criminal court on Tuesday morning. The fellow is being prosecuted for a theft with violence, committed to the detriment of his mother, in Lens on August 26, 2022, an extortion to the prejudice of the same person, committed on April 24, 2022, but also for malicious obstructions to traffic, including one was followed by an armed rebellion.
As the addition of an aggravating circumstance, the incapacity for work of more than four months, was requested by the civil party, the court considers itself incompetent and referred the case to a chamber of three judges. The lawyer says that the defendant’s mother did not wish to file a complaint against her son, contenting herself with filing a handrail, but as he became more and more violent, she ended up denouncing him to the authorities.

He tore her hair, punched her”, says the lawyer who asks for a requalification, because his client is still unable to work, suffering from headaches and balance disorders.
Arnaud is also accused of putting his mother’s vehicle out of service. She had taken care of her daughter-in-law, also a victim of violence. Angry, Arnaud chased them by car, made a fishtail to block his mother. He then smashed his mirrors with kicks. The scene was filmed by the companion.
Traces of blows
On November 26, 2022, the police went to the mother’s house. This one is alcoholic but it shows traces of blows on the face. Arnaud rushes into the police vehicle with his car. Reinforcements are called and a chase takes place on the E42, at more than 170 km/h!
Arnaud slows down at the Nimy-Maisières exit, but he restarts and rushes into another police vehicle, before stopping. A policeman, truncheon in hand, breaks the passenger window of the vehicle. Arnaud changes seats and tries to kick the policeman. Another officer intervenes to block his feet. Arnaud struggles and falls on the knee of a policeman, who hears a crack.
The wounded policeman testifies: “It was tough that night! It’s not the man that’s setting here anymore. It is to believe that people become lambs by coming here”, he says.
For all these preventions, the defendant incurs a sentence of twenty to thirty years in prison. His lawyer has his work cut out for him, although the prosecutor probably won’t ask for such a harsh sentence.
