Swiss marathon runner Adrian Lehmann died a few days after the heart attack he suffered while preparing for the Zurich Marathon on Sunday. This was confirmed by the Swiss Athletics Association. The 34-year-old was one of the best marathon runners in his country with a best time of 2:11:44 hours.
Although the runner received medical care promptly after the incident and was taken to the hospital, the consequences of the heart attack turned out to be more serious in the hospital than initially assumed.
“Infinitely sad and dismayed”
“We are incredibly sad and dismayed by this news. We express our deepest condolences to Ädu’s family and all of his friends and wish him a lot of strength during this difficult time,” says Christoph Seiler, President of Swiss Athletics.
