FORMER Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician Maruarar Sirait is starting the process of joining the Gerindra Party. He is currently processing a membership card (KTA) to join the party led by Prabowo Subianto.
“The KTA isn’t yet, of course it’s in process. Of course there are conditions, what, we have to fulfill them,” said Maruarar to the media crew when met at the holding ceremony for Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia at his official residence in Kuningan, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/4).
Maruarar said he would follow all the requirements or processes to have membership in the party.
“Yes, I will follow the rules of the game as a new member, of course you have to be patient, it’s a process,” he said.
He said that for a position in the party, of course the process would be based on the initial position as an ordinary member. He will follow Prabowo’s directions for assignments to party-related activities.
“It’s been explained to me that I’m Pak Prabowo’s subordinate,” said Maruarar.

Previously, former PDI-P politician Maruarar Sirait proposed that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) become a special advisor to the Indonesian Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidate Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
Reporting from a written statement received in Jakarta, Monday (8/4), it was stated that the reason for making this proposal was because Jokowi had a wealth of experience, from being Mayor of Surakarta, Governor of DKI Jakarta, to President of the Republic of Indonesia.
“Pak Jokowi will certainly provide input and be an advisor as an experienced person,” said Maruarar when giving a speech at the National Activist and Friends of Bang Ara (Maruarar Sirait) event holding an iftar together (bukber) and compensation for 100 orphans in Central Jakarta, Sunday (7/4).
Prabowo-Gibran, he said, are also believed to continue President Jokowi’s good programs.
For this reason, Ara, his nickname, emphasized that all activists could unite to support Prabowo’s government when he served as President of the Republic of Indonesia. (Ant/Z-1)
