The ovens are broil and the participants lively. The kitchen of MasterChef Quebec is officially open and ready to host one of the most exciting culinary competitions in the world.
Presented daily for half an hour, the show, the first episodes of the season of which will be reserved for auditions and the selection of the 16 candidates who will obtain the famous white apron, should not leave the viewer wanting more. On the contrary, all the ingredients to keep the audience hooked were used.

Grouped according to their specialty, the aspirants will first have to prove to judges Martin Picard and Stefano Faita that they really have what it takes to be the next MasterChef and showcase their talent, technique and creativity, if they want to stay in the race. Grouped together as a duo, trio or quartet, the selections will at times be heartbreaking.
Once this step is completed, the rest will happen quickly. From the first challenge of the race, the candidates will not be entitled to the pantry, while the contents of the mystery box will be destabilizing. But the real difficulty for amateur cooks will remain not to indulge in comfort, to prioritize taking risks and to dare with improbable combinations, such as a peanut butter and chocolate sauce to accompany a pork tenderloin, a ravioli spinach with corn sauce, or even lemongrass rice.

For Stefano Faita, the choice to embark on this adventure was easy, although he admitted that he is not the biggest fan of cooking shows or culinary competitions. “MasterChef has a great reputation and it is probably, if not the most listened to cooking show in the world. And when I found out that Martin Picard was going to be my partner, it was like a checkbox on my bucket list“, said the chef-owner in an interview with the QMI Agency, emphasizing that they have been good friends for more than 30 years.
“I would have felt bad judging a show like The Chiefs! someone who wants to become a chef. But to judge amateur cooks, who cook at home not professionally, there, I felt more in my place,” added the owner of Impasto, who did not learn to cook in a specialized school.

The first creative challenge will introduce guest chef Josée di Stasio into the kitchen, whose mere presence will upset some participants. They are all passionate about cooking and gastronomy. They are found in particular in the professions of dentist, firefighter, roofer, farmer, engineer or educator, and they were chosen from more than 4,000 applications.
This season, they will also have to cook for Sébastien Benoît, Lindsay Brun, Marc Hervieux, Martin Juneau, Arnaud Marchand, Louis-François Marcotte, Ricardo, Sœur Angèle and other guests who will be revealed in the coming weeks.

“The more the competition advances, the higher the level of the dishes. Judging becomes even more difficult, among other things because we create links with the candidates, and the candidates create links with each other, so towards the end, when one is eliminated, everyone shouts,” said confessed Stefano Faita, who would not hesitate for a second to return for a second season.
The winner will pocket a grand prize of $50,000.
