The picture quality of contemporary computer games is getting higher and higher, but the installation space required is also getting larger and larger. For players, even if the computer already has a hard drive with a capacity of up to TB, several games will often be installed. Finally, I discovered that there was insufficient storage space. Among them, Steam, which is most commonly used by players to purchase, download and launch games, actually has a built-in space manager function. Users can easily move game installation files to other hard drives, which not only saves the time of re-downloading, but also eliminates the need to worry. The game transfer process is incomplete, resulting in errors during subsequent launches. If players do not see the new space manager function in the Steam application, please click the “Steam” button in the upper left corner, and then click “Check for Steam Client Updates” to upgrade to the new version. Step 1. After opening and logging into Steam, click the “Steam” option in the upper left corner, and then click “Settings”. Step 2. After opening the settings screen, find “Downloads” on the left column, and then click “STEAM Collection Folder” on the right. Step 3. In the space manager screen, the hard drive currently installed with Steam game content will be displayed at the top. Click the “+” icon to add a new game installation location. Step 4. Select another hard drive on the computer to which you want to move the game installation files, and then click “Add”. Step 5. After selecting another hard drive, click “Create New Folder” and name it. This folder will be the location where the relocated Steam game installation files will be stored. Step 6. Select the newly added and named folder, and then click “Select”. Step 7. Return to the space manager screen. The other hard drive added in the previous step will be displayed at the top. Now you can prepare to transfer the game installation files. Step 8. Check the check box on the far right of the game you want to move its installation location. The space manager will also display the capacity occupied by the game. After checking, click “Move” below. Step 9. Select the target disk to which the game files are to be transferred from the list, which is the other hard disk added in the previous step, and then click “Move”. Step 10. Transferring game content and installation files will take some time, depending on the capacity of the game itself, disk read and write speed, and computer performance. Step 11. After the game file transfer is completed, press “Close” to return to the space manager screen. Step 12. Click the tab above to switch to another hard drive, and you will see that the game has been successfully transferred. If you want to move the game back to the original hard drive, just repeat the same steps. This article is simultaneously published in PC home magazine.
