AWhen economist Nicholas Eberstadt published Men without work in 2016, it received widespread publicity, including in this newspaper: Millions of prime working-age people, mostly men, are staying out of the labor market in the United States remote.

They are not looking for a job and are therefore excluded from the statistics.
