Metro to Hold Emergency Drill at New Ashburn Station – NBC4 Washington

Metro will hold an emergency exercise Wednesday in Northern Virginia to prepare for the opening of the second phase of the Silver Line.

More than 100 firefighters and emergency personnel will be at the new Ashburn station as part of the drill that will begin at 8 a.m., according to the Washington DC Metropolitan Area Transit Authority.

The exercise is scheduled to last until noon, simulating a real-life emergency with a train stranded outside the Ashburn station, Metro reported.

Metro officials urge citizens not to worry if they notice a large response at the station, including multiple fire trucks and ambulances.

The Silver Line Extension is expected to open this fall and includes six new stations in Northern Virginia: Reston Town Center, Herndon, Innovation Center, Dulles International Airport, Loudoun Gateway and Ashburn.
