Michel Drucker released from hospital, his return to the air is delayed

He had entered three weeks ago for check-ups and expected to come out a few days later. His stay will ultimately have been longer than expected.

According to information from Le Parisien, Michel Drucker, now 80 years old, had been admitted at the beginning of February for “check-ups in connection with his very heavy heart operation in 2020”. Those are “elements of recidivism” who have “need for care for a fortnight” additional, can we still read in The Parisian.

“Michel is fine. He has gone home”, reassured Stéphane Sitbon-Gomez, director of antennas and programs of France Télévisions, adding that he is preparing “actively its return”.

Serious health problems in 2020

We will see him again on the air in mid-April. In the meantime, rerun numbers of “Vivement dimanche” will be offered. And over the following three weeks, long-planned sports competitions will be broadcast.

Michel Drucker experienced serious health problems in 2020. For nearly three months, the flagship host of France Television was hospitalized for infectious endocarditis, then for a triple bypass and an infection of his scar.

“My heart was stopped for a few hours and hooked up to a machine. There, I realized I had come close to disaster” he then explained.
