Mikaela Shiffrin amazes US talk show host: “I save reindeer”

It’s not new that skiing isn’t a top priority in the United States. It helps that Mikaela Shiffrin is now marketing her record-breaking season of multiple appearances. This is also the case with the well-known US talk show called “The Tonight Show” (see video below).

The 28-year-old, who surpassed Ingemar Stenmark’s all-time record for the most career wins last winter, amazes talk show host Jim Fallon with her funny answers.

When Fallon asks what the craziest prize she’s ever won is, she tells him about the reindeer prizes at the Levi, Finland races. “You won a reindeer?!” Fallon marvels. “I won six reindeer,” specifies the ski ace.

When asked what she’s doing with them, Shiffrin first jokes that she’s taking them to the US and walking around her house, then corrects, “No, they’re staying in Finland. I save the reindeer one by one.” Addressing the audience, she adds: “Now you can tell your kids that Rudolph the reindeer exists because I named one Rudolph.”

It continues in the same key. When Fallon alludes to the fact that Shiffrin said when she was only nine years old that she wanted to be the best skier in the world, the overall World Cup winner says: “Yes, that’s a lot for a nine-year-old, but I also said at the time that one day I want to be a rainbow horse.”
