According to a report in the Financial Times, the US food company Mondelez, which owns brands such as Milka, Oreo, Philadelphia, Toblerone and Tuc, is threatened with a fine worth millions. The EU competition authorities want to fine the company for anti-competitive practices. The fine could amount to several million euros and could be imposed as early as next month.
Investigations since 2021
The EU has had Mondelez in its sights since 2021. The authority was investigating suspicions that the group did not allow retailers to sell its products in some EU countries, which could ultimately drive up prices.
