Mirza presents the UAE with the 23rd medal in the Gulf Games

The cyclist of our national team, Yusuf Mirza, presented the UAE mission with medal number 23 in the third Gulf Games, which will be hosted by the State of Kuwait from 16 to 31 of this month, with the participation of more than 1,700 athletes from the Gulf Cooperation Council, and the UAE participates with 285 male and female athletes in 16 individual games and collective.
Mirza won the silver medal in the men’s individual time race for a distance of 24.7 km, with a time of 31.27.71 minutes, while Kuwaiti Sayed Jaafar Al-Ali won the gold in the competition with a time of 30:39.79 minutes, and Bahraini Ahmed Modon won the bronze medal with a time of 31:46.43 minutes.
Abdul Rahman Al-Janahi, our national tennis team player, qualified for the round of 16 after the first day’s competitions, and after participating in the singles category with 4 matches in the round of 32, where he defeated his Kuwaiti counterpart Abdul Razek Abdullah 6-0.6-1, while Abdullah Al-Marzouqi lost from the Saudi Abdullah Al-Faraj 6-0.6-0, Omar Ahmadi lost against the Qatari Mubarak Shannan 6-0.6-1, while Omar Al-Awadi suffered an injury that prevented him from facing Kuwaiti Badr Antar.
On the other hand, the basketball team qualified for the semi-finals, despite losing at the conclusion of the preliminary round competitions against Qatar, 61-72, where the Emirates basket ensured reaching the semi-finals after winning 6 points from two consecutive wins against Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, and losing against Kuwait and Qatar.
The basketball team is looking forward to qualifying for the final round when it meets its Bahraini counterpart today, in a heated confrontation that will determine the identity of the qualifier for the Gulf basketball summit to meet the winner of the Kuwait-Saudi match.
The volleyball team also lost to Bahrain 0-3, to remain without credit after the second defeat in a row, and the result of the matches came by 25-20.25-18.25-23, and our team faces today its Saudi counterpart in the third round.

The table team also lost to Qatar 3-0 at the beginning of its career, in the teams competition, while our team seeks to reap the first points when it meets tomorrow “Monday” Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
The women’s futsal team narrowly lost against Bahrain 3/5 in the semi-finals, and today the team will meet with its Saudi counterpart in the match to determine the third place.
The UAE’s balance rose to 23 colored medals, with 7 gold, 9 silver and 7 bronze medals in sixth place in the general ranking table. Kuwait continued to lead with a total of 59 medals, including 22 gold, while Bahrain came second with a total of 45 medals, including 17 gold, and Qatar came third with a total 39 medals, 12 gold, followed by the Sultanate of Oman in fourth place, with a total of 25 medals, including 11 gold.
On the other hand, our national e-sports team will compete tomorrow in the FIFA game competition against its Saudi counterpart, where our team will represent Ahmed Al-Suwaidi and Salem Al-Hammadi, while today the ice hockey team begins its journey in the tournament against Saudi Arabia at the Kuwait Winter Sports Club, and today the hand team arrives with a list of 18 players: Abdul Hamid Saeed, Abdul Rahman Khamis, Salem Khalfan, Abdullah Awad, Ibrahim Al-Qurs, Firas Muhammad, Ahmed Abdullah, Saif Al-Ansari, Rashid Saeed, Dhahi Muhammad, Abdullah Omar, Abdullah Khamis, Rashid Framers, Marzouq Ahmed, Raed Saeed, Hilal Jihad, Mubarak Abdullah, and Muhammad Abdullah Muhammad.
The handball team will meet its Qatari counterpart next Thursday at the start of its matches in the tournament, and will meet its Bahraini counterpart next Saturday, and face the Kuwaiti team on Sunday, to conclude its matches against Saudi Arabia at the end of this month.

Al-Janahi expressed his wishes to achieve a medal on behalf of the UAE in the Gulf session, explaining that the final round will witness the participation of the first seed in the tournament, and the semi-final round will witness the presence of the third seed in the tournament.
