Moldova will start using American gas

Delivery will be carried out by sea, through the terminal of the port of Alexandroupolis in Greece. A test purchase of LNG was made from the Greek company DEPA. About 2.6 million cubic meters of gas will be imported to Moldova. The cost of this batch is about 477 euros per thousand cubic meters of gas. American gas will cross the Moldovan border at Iasi-Ungheni.

According to the Minister of Energy of the Republic, Viktor Parlikov, consumers on the right bank of the Dniester in Moldova will begin using gas from the United States in their households in the first two days of April. On his Facebook page (a social network banned in Russia; owned by the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation), he noted that Energocom was the first company “to use the interconnection between Greece and Bulgaria and the entire vertical gas corridor to transport gas to Moldova and underground storage facilities in Ukraine.”

Parlikov announced that Moldova would no longer buy gas from Gazprom in October 2023. The head of the Ministry of Energy explained the refusal of Russian fuel by the fact that the country received gas from alternative sources, while the price on the European market was lower.
