Molenbeek: the camp for asylum seekers opposite the evacuated ‘Petit-Château’

Rehousing of the evacuees is therefore planned. Forty people will already be accommodated this evening in Fedasil reception centres. The others will be cared for in emergency reception structures in the Brussels Region. In all, according to our information gathered on the spot, 130 people, who had been previously registered last week, were taken to a gymnasium in the town.

But on the spot, near the “Petit-Château”, several dozen asylum candidates remain on the floor, in the rain. Not appearing on the evacuation list of the authorities, they were not supported. However, they claim, like the associations on the ground, that they frequented the makeshift camp.
