Vienna – Last year there were 2,510,000 families in Austria, including 1,417,00 with children. Statistics Austria reported this on Tuesday. In 2023, around one in five families with offspring was a single-parent family (21.3 percent), with single mothers bearing the brunt, as in the past. After a decline during the corona pandemic, this share rose once more and was recently close to the 2019 level (21.5 percent).
