In an intervention during a meeting held by the United Nations General Assembly on “Use of the Veto,” Mr. Hilal stated that, within the framework of the actual commitment and permanent interest of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, to the Palestinian issue, and with high instructions from His Majesty, a humanitarian operation was launched last month. A major initiative for the benefit of the Palestinian population in Gaza and the city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif.

The ambassador explained that this aid, ordered by His Majesty the King for the benefit of the Palestinian people, consists of more than 40 tons of food supplies, including basic foodstuffs, adding that this operation coincided with the holy month of Ramadan.

The diplomat pointed out that since the outbreak of armed operations more than five months ago, Morocco is the first country to transfer its humanitarian aid via an unprecedented land route and deliver it directly to the beneficiary population, recalling that the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency provided food aid to the Jerusalemite population, which includes the distribution of 2,000 baskets. Food supplies benefiting 2,000 Jerusalemite families, and 1,000 meals daily for the benefit of Palestinians in the Holy City.

The assistance also includes establishing an emergency coordination room at Al-Quds Hospital.

On the other hand, the Ambassador called on the Permanent Representative of Morocco to the United Nations to enable the delivery of relief aid to the residents of Gaza, in a safe, adequate, sustainable and unhindered manner, to release prisoners and detainees, and to establish a political horizon for the Palestinian issue.

On this occasion, Mr. Hilal renewed Morocco’s demand to impose… An immediate and sustainable ceasefire In the Gaza Strip, stressing the need to ensure the protection of civilians and humanitarian workers so that they can perform their noble tasks in accordance with international law and international humanitarian law.

He also reiterated the Kingdom of Morocco’s rejection and condemnation of all violations, the policy of collective punishment and forced displacement, and its attempt to impose a new reality, and its affirmation that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Palestinian territories and the unified Palestinian state.

The diplomat highlighted that Morocco considers the threat to expand military operations to include all areas of the Gaza Strip, including Rafah, as unacceptable, noting that this situation could lead to a worsening of the humanitarian situation.

On the other hand, Mr. Hilal called for intensifying further efforts to revive the peace process in the Middle East, with the aim of reaching a just and comprehensive settlement that guarantees all the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is their right to establish their independent Palestinian state, on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. .

In conclusion, the ambassador renewed Morocco’s support for Palestine’s request to join the United Nations, as a full member state.

He highlighted that “Morocco, like the Arab and Islamic countries and the Non-Aligned Movement, renews its support for the request for full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations.”
