motorcycle unions call for a national march on October 12

The motorcyclists plan to carry out a strike on Wednesday, October 12, at least that is what is contemplated by one of the unions that most groups these drivers in the capital, the Gonobikerreas, which only in their Facebook account have more than 900,000 followers.

In social networks, the group of ‘bikers’ made a call to go out and march in two days, at 7:30 am, from the Virgilio Barco Public Library. The reason? They denounce that, despite nearly 10 million motorcycle drivers in the country, little has been heard by the government of Gustavo Petro.

The visual piece shared by the Gonobikerreas on Facebook has to do with the announcement by one of the leaders of the motorcyclists’ guild, Miguel Forero, who a week ago supported -in an interview with Citytv- the need to establish a dialogue table with the head of the Colombian State to discuss some of the problems that afflict them.

“That we can start discussing things. That they do not see us as a plague, but as a solution to mobility. And that everything that comes out on the subject of motorcycles can help us improve this concept of motorcycles at the Colombian level, ”said Forero with the television newscast.

The scheduled march will be joined by members of the Street Brothers, who met with other groups of bikers to agree on what the mobilizations are like. “When one loves his guild, rivalry does not exist, when one is a leader one must think of the common good before the personal good,” they published this Monday afternoon.

According to them, among the reasons for the days of social protest stand out the increase in the collection of gasoline, the measures announced by the Ministry of Transport to counteract the payment of the Soat.

️”We know that we have things to improve like any union, but we are tired of being treated like the bad guys on the streets, because the media and society believe that we are criminals. Sucked from the abuses of authority, which is to persecute us at all times, sucked from not letting us work honestly for our families, sucked from the fact that everyone makes decisions for us and that they don’t even take us into account. Sucked that other unions suck us in, sucked from being the petty cash of the Government and the District. Sucked from a corrupt system that lives tasty at the expense of all of us”, published the Street Brothers.

The procedures that you will not be able to carry out if you do not have Soat

On the other hand, the Minister of Transport, William Reyesinsists on the need for drivers in Colombia to acquire the Mandatory Traffic Accident Insurance (Soat), given that evasion, the increase in the vehicle fleet and the accident rate, have it in ‘intensive care’.

So much is the need for drivers to acquire the Soat that, if they don’t do it the easy way, they should do it the hard way; at least that is what the Transport authority in the country proposes. How? With the implementation of a coercive collection once the insurance is expired and demanding it to carry out procedures related to mobility.

“We are going to force the Colombian to have a Soat, not only for adding a cost, but to protect the life not only of the road driverbut also of the other people who circulate on the country’s roads, ”explained Minister Guillermo Reyes.

As soon as the measures announced by Reyes come into effect, drivers, for example, will not be able to register a new vehicle. Nor will they be able to carry out the techno-mechanical review of the vehicles, another of the obligations to travel on the streets, scheduled once a year.

Those who wish to transfer their car will also not be able to do so once the strategy for Colombians to stop evading the payment of the Soat, if they have not paid it, comes into effect. In the case of Bogotá, the Single Service Window (VUS), enabled for this procedure, will require you to prove that the policy is up to date.
