MP raids Civil Aeronautics offices, but does not reveal details

The Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes Against Intellectual Property with the support of agents from the National Civil Police (PNC) carried out a raid on Tuesday, February 27, in the offices of the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC), but did not reveal details of the case being investigated. .
When consulting the Department of Communication of the MP about the raid, it was said that “the Prosecutor’s Office indicates that the proceedings are being followed up on an investigation of which more details may be released soon.”
This diligence occurs amid a series of allegations of irregularities in contracts and purchases in the DGAC, which until a few days ago was directed by Francis Argueta and who was dismissed by authorities from the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing (CIV).
For example, on February 23, the Minister of Communications, Jazmín de La Vega, announced that legal actions were underway against the company that signed the contract to supply the airport’s electric stands.
He added that the legal actions are supported by the Attorney General’s Office (PGN), due to non-compliance with the contract in terms of specifications.
The official said that the performance bond will be executed and a solution will be sought to renovate the airport terminal.
The minister assured that all pertinent legal actions will be carried out in this case and in other similar cases, where the agreement was not received in accordance with what was requested.
Likewise, the CIV authorities are following up on another retrofit contract on the landing strip that connects to the airport’s private hangars, valued at Q107 million.
De La Vega added on that occasion that the company completed the maintenance of 600 meters, with another 250 pending, which the company agrees to deliver in a month and a half.
La Aurora Airport Management confirmed that other contracts related to cleaning and cracks on the runways are being analyzed.
