Mpumelelo Mseleku’s fiancées reject living in ancestral Umzumbe home

Mpumelelo Mseleku’s polygamy plans have stalled after both of his fiancées refused to relocate to the family’s ancestral home in Umzumbe on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast, snl24.com reported.

The Reality of Umzumbe and The Mseleku Family

  • Fiancée Tirelo Kale rejected the relocation demand, stating she could not give up her career in Johannesburg to become a traditional housewife.
  • Second fiancée Amahle Biyela also refused to move into the neglected property, questioning why she should live there alone while her sister-wife works in the city.
  • Musa Mseleku’s historic homestead currently stands vacant as neither the patriarch nor his four wives reside permanently at the rural property.

Tirelo Kale Puts Her Foot Down Against Rural Relocation

The friction inside the high-profile reality TV family began when Tirelo Kale drew a firm line regarding her professional life. Confronted with expectations to embrace a traditional domestic role in the deep rural enclave of Umzumbe, she refused to relocate. Even a personal appeal from famous polygamist Musa Mseleku failed to sway her stance. Tirelo told the family to seek out another partner willing to fulfill the lifestyle requirements, prioritizing her career over the traditional homestead arrangement.

Amahle Biyela Questions Her Future With Mpumelelo

History repeated itself on an episode of Izingane Zes’thembu aired on Mzansi Magic, when Mpumelelo’s second fiancée, Amahle Biyela, mirrored Tirelo’s rejection. Amahle pointed out the unfairness of isolating herself in Umzumbe while her co-wife remained in Johannesburg and Mpumelelo stayed away. “Why must I be the fool?” Amahle stated on the program, noting that she could not rely on Mpumelelo to improve his living arrangements or commitments. She ultimately decided to step back from the relationship to focus on her own life.

The Neglected Mseleku Ancestral Homestead

The sprawling property in Umzumbe holds deep familial significance as the place where the Mseleku children grew up during a time of greater family unity. However, the physical structure has fallen into disrepair because no members of the family live there full-time. Mpumelelo admitted that he and his father agreed Amahle should occupy the site to look after the deteriorating estate. Mpumelelo acknowledged that Amahle’s refusal was heavily influenced by Tirelo’s earlier rejection, leaving his plans for a polygamous household in flux.
